Rear speakers in 92 hatch

I searched the forum and couldn't find anything (maybe I entered the wrong keywords), but eh... what size speakers fit into the rear of a 92 hatch? And where does it go? Onto the side above the rear armrests? Anyone have the part # for this? Does the car come prewired? I'm not going to add amps to the car as I want to keep it as simple and light as possible. Thanks in advance.

some come with speakers, some dont. i've seen many ppl just cut a hole in the hatch cover and mount them there if you dont have stock mounting holes.

Eh, that's ghetto as hell. Found out today from the local dealer that they sell the replacement panels for the rear seat area that have integrated openings for the speakers. These panels were dealer installed options. Ordered em. Thanks anyways.

^^^ I agree.

If you know what you're doing, you can make them look sick-made.

sometimes good customizing by a good installer isnt ghetto
Cutting holes in the rear trunk cover and "installing" speakers onto them isn't customizing by any sense of the word. I thought about cutting the panel above the arm rest, but since it's curved, I would have to fab a mount of some sort that's flat on the front, curved in the back. Too much of a time investment when I can just get OE replacement panels with speaker holes and especially since I won't be putting together a serious sound system in the car as it's eventually going to be tracked full time once I pick up a X-Runner.
