Recently acquired 95 DX

What's the haps folks. I'm a proud owner of a 95 DX 5-speed (sedan). Beautiful machine, runs like a dream. I've got so many ideas for modifications, but I'm a minimalist so It won't be anything flashtastic: one of myfirst steps is to swap my bumper for the DX coupe bumper (gotta get on those fog lamps). Mods aside, I need to fix my CV joints, and my speedometer is out. However, and I don't know if it's common for sedans of that year, but it doesn't have a Tach either. I've no problem driving without it (without the volume ramped up to eleven), but ir'd be nice to have. My first primary question would be: is there a possiblity to change out the dash that has a tach built in? Or would it just make more sense to get the speedometer fixed and do a custom tach installation, say like on the windshield side bar or something?

Cheers!

Its a very common thing to just swap in a gauge cluster from a model that had a tach buiilt into it. it isnt difficult at all.

That's awesome, and reletively priced too. Cheers, Emerican! And I guess another question i'd like to ask would be if I bought the coupe DX bumper, would it be as easy a swap as the gauge cluster? or is that something that requires examining my current bumper before I make a purchase?

92-95 coupe/hatch front bumpers will bolt right onto the sedan, but it will not line up with the fenders and sit flush like it should. Sedan fenders and corner lights differ from the coupe/hatch.

Dx model Civics' do not have the tachometer. All you need to do is get another cluster from a 92-95 Vx, Lx, Ex/Si and swap it in. It is plug n play, no mods at all.

Superb information Mr Baker, cheers! The expense of registering this thing and getting the tag is astounding (first time driver and all), but once all that is taken cared of, the mods begin! I'll post pics and such (if I even can), can't wait to get started on this!

I do like the way that looks, and I looked up pictures of coupe bumbers on sedan and can see the flush issue that you mentiond. But, I can see that civic sedans aren't equipped for fogs, and after looking up various options on ebay and what not, is it safe to assume that installing fog lamps on my car would require wiring, and installation of a switch of some kind on the dash, yes?

(big ups for the posting picture tutorial!)

They can be equipped with fogs very easily.
The info and complete OEM style plug n play kits are out there if you look.

An si cluster. Complete enough for u?
No, not really since all you said was, "get a Si one there have everything" there isn't much difference between the 4 to begin with.
Si and Ex share the same cluster. Lx is nearly identical, minus the 6.5k redline, the Vx has a 6k redline and shift light.

6k for the Vx

6500 for the Lx

Wow, you told me...:what:
Sorry the info, complete sentences, and pics were overload for you.

In dealing with Hondas' over the past 12 or so years, there is so much MISinformation so it helps to be specific.
Especially now, with the younger, hipster/trendy, no patience, txt speaking, can't convey or form a complete sentence or thought, entitled, can't search, gotta have it now, go fast Honda fan-boys.

lol a week and you're at each other's throats. Aight well it's been a buggy two weeks: lost my job so income is gone, all the plans I had for upgrading my DX has been shelved until further notice (sorry). I tried two upgrades with the little bit of dough I had, a new speed sensor and a set of coil-overs from two different civics (one for the front and another for the rear). Keep in mind, both of these I got from a junkyard called U Pull It, basically you walk in, find the car relative to yours and take anything of use (still gotta pay for it). The speed sensor was a dud, and the coils almost worked. My homeboy and I switched out the front-end stuck struts with the coils with relative ease and by God, my s**t was sittin LOW. Until we got to the back; s**t pretty much got on the fan. The rear coils we pulled from a coupe, which apparently has a slightly narrower hinge joint than my stock struts, so the damn thing wouldn't fit (we tried just putting the coil-over sleeves on the stock strut but the threading was stripped on that inside part at the top), then we go to the other side and 2 primary bolt heads snapped clean off the frame. At this point, I just put the stock struts back on, in the near future I can take the car to my friends shop and have him install the rear coils for me. Crazy ass week it has been, but it's whatever, the car still runs.
