First, I noticed my Engine temp rise rapidly to redline (10-15 seconds) after a 7 mile trip to Wal-Mart. I let it cool down and began checking for signs of a head gasket blowout (Cometic MLS). It was fine. I started it and let it idle to see temp rise, but it stayed in middle. I drove 1 mile to local park where all the Honda tuners hang out. I made it to the park just below redline. I shut it down, let it cool down, and began troubleshooting. It started up several times without issue or any funny sounds. I did the Carb Cleaner check on head gasket....no bubbles. Jumped radiator fan....good, checked fan fuse....good. Ran OBD1 diagnostic and got code 6: ECT Sensor. Made sense to me. I had a friend take me to Autozone, where I got a new ECT Sensor. I put it in and the code went away. From then on, I had a solid check light when I jumped the OBD1 test end.
After replacing ECT, the car would no longer start. It turned over wonderfully. We even jumped it just in case, but no start. It acted as if no fuel was getting into chamber, but that made no sense to me. It was alot like to fuel shutoff in old Fords, except I have no reset button for my Gen 6 Civic. I went into ECU reset mode. I removed battery cables, ECU fuse, and alternate radio fuse. I even tried odometer reset for 15 seconds while trying to start. I am sure I did no damage as I made sure my engine only hit red for less than 15 seconds before being shut off.
I need to check spark for all plugs, but other than that, what am I missing. What should I try to get this thing to start? Thanks.
