i took off from a redlight lastnight, and was shifting at about 7 grand..and when i went to shift into 3rd, i hit about 7 1/2 grand, and it felt like the car jolted a little bit...is this some kind of a rev limiter??
yes that is a rev limited i think its at 7500 rpm.Trubo97civic said:i took off from a redlight lastnight, and was shifting at about 7 grand..and when i went to shift into 3rd, i hit about 7 1/2 grand, and it felt like the car jolted a little bit...is this some kind of a rev limiter??
or a fuel cut off. I dont know much about 96 up on rev limiters or fuel cut offs. ON my d16a6 with a pm6 it would bog at 7500 rpm that was the fuel cut off was set at.josh austin said:yes that is a rev limited i think its at 7500 rpm.

i really dont think that is true. Ive been to a honda dealer where i guy stuck a brick on the gas pedal. Car was in neutral. He went inside and poured a cup of coffee and talked to me and a friend because we had a dicussion about this. and about 30 minutes later when outside and pulled brick off car and took us for a ride car ran fine. The car was screaming and scaring the f**k out of me though. I was like wtf. He said eh went to some honda tech school and the guy had a integra gsr that they would do that to for the first day of school. Said people would be freaking out. The computer is your friend for stuff like that. If your just excelerating i think ur cool its when your at 7200 rpms in 5th gear and you down shift to 3rd is when s**t starts exploding on stock cars.2kstreetcivic said:you wanna be more careful...its there so you dont over rev your engine, buts not good for your engine to constantly be bouncing off the limiter..
so with chipped ecu, like mine without a rev limiter, that would be bad also right? what's the point of getting your rev limiter x'd out other than to race, when it's bad for your motor.2kstreetcivic said:you wanna be more careful...its there so you dont over rev your engine, buts not good for your engine to constantly be bouncing off the limiter..
you really need to build your motor to be able to handle mor rpm thats the whole point of removing the rev limiter. But dont remove the revlimiter on a stock engine. Thats just asking for trouble. Like i had money now i built my head. The head is good for over 10,000 rpms but he bottom end isnt. SO i just keep the revs at 8600 rpm which is stock.jokenfu21 said:so with chipped ecu, like mine without a rev limiter, that would be bad also right? what's the point of getting your rev limiter x'd out other than to race, when it's bad for your motor.
i think i just answered my damn question...
thats great but what have you done to the block itself to make it stronger for reving higher. The best advice would be use a program like uberdata or turboedit to tune your car wtih or even hondata. That way your making the must power for the rpm range that you can rev in. Revving high is cool but revving high and not making power is stupid.jokenfu21 said:ok so i have i/h/e...but i also have port and polished intake manifold and cylinder head with jg 301 cam.
how much difference is that?
nothing for your red line unless you have also done the lifters, valve springs, retainers, and valves. Then like josh austin said, you have to do the bottom end too.jokenfu21 said:ok so i have i/h/e...but i also have port and polished intake manifold and cylinder head with jg 301 cam.
