Rich Fuel Mix <solved>

Hey all.

I just put on an AEM cold air intake + some headers and now I'm getting some serious rich fuel mixture. I replaced the oxygen sensor on the headers already but same problem.

I don't have many guesses other than this. I was thinking maybe the air temp sensor on the CIA is now always reading cold and the car thinks it was just started so it needs a richer mixture.

If anyone has any solutions or ideas please let me know. Thanks a lot. These forums have been a really great help for me.

Also, im not sure what adjusting my fuel pressure is going to do for me. If it was right before, why is it off now just from a CAI?

What are you using to measure your a/f ratio? How rich are you running? First try putting the stock airbox back on to see if it still runs rich. Then do the same for the exhaust manifold. Also try using a different measuring device to test your a/f. Anything?

I'm not measuring. I ordered the gear and I just received it today. After my milage went to hell I pulled the plugs out and they were black and wet. I also smelled gas a couple times.

Wierd thing is that someone suggested that I move to high octane. I put 1/2 a tank in and drove around hard for 30 minutes and my gauge barely moved. I'm not sure why this would help.

Put the stockers back on to determine if it's the aftermarket parts that are causing the engine to do this. You might want to check your O2 sensor and also the MAP sensor to see if it was damaged during the install.

I took off the throttle body today adn the gasket was all messed up. There was obviously a leak because the bottom part of the port on the intake manifold was all corroded. I polished it all back up, new gasket, cleaned the TB, and my fuel economy is back where it should be.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions.
