I have a 98 HB DX civic that needs an engine rebuild. I have about 2,500 up to 4,000 to spend and don't know if I should swap to a 95 prelude or completely rebuild my DX motor. The plan is to rebuild my DX and make it my summer car and drive my 04 civic in the winter. However, as most of u know the DX is gut less so not sure what to do new swap or beef up. All information would be help full. Thanks

P.S. I will be driving this to work and still would like to get good to ok gas mileage but the back roads to work are very long and open with little supervision.

So many "cheap" options available for swaps it's silly. And at your budget, you should have no problem at all getting some pep in your step. First things first, get your search fingers out and grab a Rockstar! Its going to be a long couple nights to figure out whats best for YOU.

Good luck :thumbs up

Personally, i'd go for the Prelude just because I'm tired of Civic's.
If you want, with that money you can probably do a engine swap or turbocharge and rebuild your D-series if you desire. With $4,000, patience and good work you can probably be able to put down 200-300hp.

So you want a little more fun with good mpg?

A well tuned turbo D or a well tuned turbo B will both do those. Really just up to what you want to do at that point.

Or you can get a 1992-1995 Civic VX motor (D15Z1) , trans and ECU and have at it at the glorious 45-50+mpg gas mileage.
