I'm driving a 92 Honda Civic DX 5 speed manual.
I'm experiencing an extremely rough idle that I think may be related to my A/C. Everything was running fine until I took a long trip through some hot areas and needed to use the A/C in my car. The A/C did and continues to work intermittently (seems to work best when the engine is cold?) It's super cold if it works. If it does work it tends to kill the engine when I put the car into neutral after a couple seconds.
I proceeded to use the A/C doing my best to turn it off whenever I needed to let the car sit in neutral (stops what have you.)
Now after a stretch of driving the engine started to idle extremely rough. Very low RPMs. It also started to die when in neutral without the A/C on (something it had never done before.) The trick though was that it would only die when I was travelling at low speeds. I haven't yet had it die while in neutral going above 30 mph.
Basically, I have a rough idle and a bad A/C that I think are linked because the car ran great before I attempted using the A/C. I never used it before.
I've read around and am planning on checking the IACV but am wondering if this sounds like it might be a problem with something else. I'm thinking electrical.
Thanks.
