Hello everyone I have a 1992 civic dx 1.5 that idles very rough when cold and has died once. It will not idle rough once you get it to operating temperature? Does anyone know what this might be? Thank You
At what rpm does it seem to idle? Does it bounce up and down or simply just wont start and you have to hold the gas pedal till it warms up a bit? Any other symptoms, check engine light? Does it Idle high or bounce a bit after its warmed up? Whats the temp outside?
Most Idle problems have to do with the FITV or IACV needing a cleaning. Kinda sounds like your FITV may not be doing its job at all AND perhaps the iacv is a bit gunked up if theres no idle at all during cold start, because I deleted my fitv and it still idles even cold, although I do sometimes choose to give it help.
Anyway clean those 2 out first since this process is essentially free minus whatever cleaner you use and coolant you spill in the process.
The idle will bounce up and down when cold once it gets hot I have no idle issues whatsoever. No check engine light at all, Thank You Ill look at those articles you sent
