 alright i have a 92 hatcback and for some reason my rpm idles really really low like it's sitting in the 1 rpm, it pisses me off so bad cause i keep thinking that the car would just die down, but sometimes when i'm sitting in a traffic or what not the idle goes up, if anyone know what's wrong with it please tell me, alright thanks for the time to read this.

p.s. do you think getting a engine in a junkyard is a good idea, tell me it is or not

yeah dude i have a '93 civic sedan and it idles at below 1000 usually. sometimes when im sitten at a red light with the music barely on i cant even hear the engine cause it idles so low. I dont think anything's wrong with it. If u look at the trottle body though, there is a wire leading to this lever ( i cant recall what it is called, i know that sounds stupid) that when u push it the engine revs. Just adjust the tension in the wire and it should idle higher. You'll probably use more gas this way though so dont set it too high, just enough so it idles over 1000. SOrry i couldnt be more technical, but thats all i know. I know that will adjust the idling.

i wouldnt mess with the throttle cable. on the tb there will be a screw that is like sunk in a little. turn that and the idle will go up and down. =)

i wouldn't worry about it either, you can change your fuel filter if you feel like u gotta do something.

Hey y'all

DO NOT adjust your throttle cable to raise the idle speed!

To do that you use the idle adjusting screw on the TB which some other people have mentioned its right where the air intake duct meets the TB. I forget whether its facing the right or left side of the engine bay but i'll get back to ya. As for the idling problem, do check your fuel filter if it hasn't been changed according to the maintenance schedule but more likely (and this was my case) its due to a weak spark. Honda is notorious for making shitty distributors so i'd have the ICM (ignition control module), Ignition coil, plug wires and plugs checked out.

PS: Anyone have pics of the stock TB?

Idle speed should be around 750(+ /- 50)rpm. It is probably the fan coming on when your sitting in traffic that causes the idle to go up.
