When my car is cold, and I push in the clutch, the RPMs rev to about 2500 or so. What could be the cause of this?

check your TPS to see if theres a fault (possible leaks IM or TB)...when your car is cold it needs to rev higher to build oil pressure

and it has so little torque at that speed and temperature that the small amount of friction in the tranny will cause the engine to slow to the point that it has enough torque to equal that of the friction. thats why when you give a small amount of throttle it doesnt keep revving till it hits redline, it revs out at a certain point. and at that point you have no usable torque as you probably know
