i went to get my exhaust replaced the other day because mine was basically in two, and i thought it may have been the exhaust causing my car to not run as fast, but the guy told me that he was 100% positive what it is and what id have to replace to get it to run on all 4 cylinders again and i cant remember exactly what the part name is, but its the part that the hoses from the spark plugs go to that has the rotary button in it. i probably sound stupid as hell lol, does anyone know what the name of the part is?

here is a pic where i circled the part

it is the distributor, and those aren't hoses those are the spark plug wires;

on a normal maintenance you need to change the distributor cap, the rotor, the sparks and the wires.

im pretty positive thats the part he was talking about, if something was wrong with that, would it cause my car to only run on 2 or 3 cylinders?

yes, distributor has the rotor button inside which is timed to your motor, as your rotating assembly moves it aligns the correct spark plug wire & spark plug to fire on the correct cylinder once compression is built. is he suggesting you replace the distributor or just the cap and button?

im not even really sure, i called the shop and the guy that told me what it was doesnt come in for like another hour.. so ill just go up there in an hour or so and see exactly what he says, or maybe if he can even give me a price to replace it for me.

im just trying to get this fixed asap because i HATE having to accelerate slow lol.

if its slow and sluggish, and misfires then its probably either A) distributor B) spark plug wires C) spark plugs D) dirty injectors E) all the above.

ive replaced the spark plugs and wires, and the guy at the shop said hes 100% positive thats what it is.. so i guess we will see what happens after i get the distributor replaced.

okay well i replaced the distributor cap and it didnt change anything.. and i tested the spark plug wires and they are all reading between 25 and 45. now im thinking it could be the fuel injectors, i bought some fuel injector cleaner but im not sure if that will do any good... any ideas of what it could be?
