Running Rich?

I installed my dsm 450's today and put my chipped p28 in. I don't have the turbo on yet but I started it to see if it would run. It sounds like its running fine but my a/f gauge is staying all the way rich on idle. Whats up with that?

unless you have a wideband o2 sensor, then your gauge is pretty meaningless. if you are indeed idling very rich, then the chip is not programmed correctly. the only real way to find out is to find a local with a wideband (or buy one) and see for yourself, and get the .bin dump from the chip and see if it is properly scaled for 450s

Yea I know the narrow band is not accurate but shouldn't it still move back and forth instead of staying rich?

it theoretically should, but if your o2 sensor is not in perfect condition, it may not.

it has had a surging idle twice. I revved the motor alittle and it started surging. It has me stumped. the o2 sensor was fine before the injectors and it never surged. I guess its just the basemap.
