I have a couple s2000 muffleres laying around and I am contemplating putting one on my coupe, I also have the s2k resonator so I can use larger exhaust piping. Now, should I go any larger than 2 1/4 pipe or would larger put me in the loss of back pressure range. The reason I'm doing this is because if I go spend $300 plus on a cat-back system, the wife will make me sleep on the couch. I also have a buddy that works in a muff shop and he's going to build my cat-back for $60! Any ideas or comments would be greatly apprereciated! Tahnks!

well, i am not 100% on this, but its likely that those S2k muffs wont fit on your civic. the hangers are prolly gonna be in different places. however, you could always have your buddy weld on hangers in teh right spots. same goes for the piping...i may be misinterpreting what you are saying, but you cant use the S2k piping on the civic either. it definately wont fit.

i dunno how much of a gain you would see from a S2k muffler either. i spose it would be better than the stock s**t on there now, but not by much. im sure someone else will have more info for you tho.

I would say save your time and effort. As said before the hangers would be in different places. I wouldn't go fo anything larger than 2 1/4 in. piping either unless you're planning on a turbo later on. (I might be wrong though I am not saying that is the correct way to go)

your buddy works at a muffler shop, so you're set. u've got the muffler, u've got the resonator. have him make the piping for u. do they have good bending machines at his shop?

send some sound pics if/when you get it done...I wanna hear that. My friend has an evo 8 exhaust on his 04 accord coupe 4 banger.....its amazing.

take it to a muffler shop... i'm gonna get that exact same muffler installed on my civic too.

btw i think the hangers for the passenger side exhaust bolt right up.... either way its still not a problem for a reputable muffler shop.

it's going to go to the muffler shop sometime in the next two weeks, when he gets some free time. I know it's not gonna give a whole bunch more flow, but it can't be worse than stock! Also, so from the responses it looks like it'll be 2 1/4" pipe. Thanks for the replies!

in that case you'll be fine with the 2.25" diameter... if it were a less refined machine, such as a ben pearsons, u might wanna go a little wider.
