Seat belt pilling shirts

I've recently noticed my beautiful hatch has been waging war against all of my shirts. I was wondering if anyone else has been having this problem, if its just the seat belt material or if it because it's aged. either way, it's ruining a lot of my shirts and I hate those seat belt cushions. Has anyone had this problem? how did you fix it?

Ive had no such issue in the 5+ years driving my Civic, nor have I heard of anyone else experiencing that. What type of material is that? You must be moving back & forth alot while driving to even allow that much friction to occur. If your seat belt is very stiff then it may just need a good cleaning to regain its softness & not cause that.
