Seat cover/comfort

Hi guys,

I'm putting miles on my new/used 2002 Civic LX and the seats are killing my back. Several guys I work with have the same issues with the EX's. I've been looking at replacement seats but I wouldnt buy them unless I could sit in them. The wife wants to try something else first....like decent seat covers.

Has anyone tried decent ,made to fit covers? What brand? Did they help with making the seat more comfy esp in the lower back area?

My old car had excellent seats with several lumbar supports so my body has been in "shock" with these seats.

Thanks!!

most covers even nice ones are not padded..even if they are its not gonna be THAT much.. like enough to make stock seats much better.. i had stock EX seats for a while.. they sucked... went to gsr leather.. they were not bad.. then went to tenzo seats... they were really shitty.. now i have recaros.. nothing compares.. i love them.. but they were pretty expensive..

i would check out buddyclub seats. they make a wide version which would be a little more comfortable for everyday driving. and for a really good racing seat they are pretty cheap.

You can get the seats recovered and change the foam for more support at a good upholstery shop. It'll probably cost nearly as much as decent aftermarket seats but it can be done.

Packaged seat covers almost never fit well and will add no comfort

WARNING: slightly off topic and maybe a little racist question...

I've noticed that virtually every black man over 35 sits on a pillow in their car. And I'm not just talking hooptie 80's Buick LeSabres with the seats all blown out. I'm talking about BMW 7-series, Lexus LS430s, Mercedes Benz S-class...etc...nice quality seats in quality cars and there they are, sitting on the pillow. What's up with the pillow? Maybe they all have 'roids. :what:

so, maybe you wanna try the pillow trick. Civic seat foam is a little firm.

Hehe....well I've done alot of talking to Civic owners and some interesting things came from it. Age is an issue....us older bucks find them very uncomfy....and skinny people do to. Also it depends what car you've had in the past. My old car was bigger and had real plush seats with lumbar supports so the Civic's seem even worse to me than someone driving it for the first time.

We own a 1999 LX and those are abit softer than my 2002 LX...and others who have had the different gen's agree the 2001's+ are harder feeling.

I found an old car seat my wife had...I tried that today....seemed to help alot so for now go with that. Changing seats is something I dont want to do....though those GSR's sound nice.

THanks for the help guys!
