Hey, i'm new here as im looking at buying a civic. Anyway, I've seen a 1998 1.4 Civic hatchback in white for sale local to me. I'm currently driving a peugeot 106 1.4. He's dropped his asking price to £1300 for £1500. The car is almost imaculate from the outside and in very good condition inside. It's fitted with a Japspeed exhaust and reclining recaros. Just under 70k milage with FULL HONDA MAIN DEALER HISTORY. This seems like a good buy, but I know nothing about what it's worth, going by ebay it seems ok. It comes with the original parts, seats and exhaust. It's lowered 60mm all round. What do you lot reckon? Also do you reckon it will be a hike in insurance going from an 8v to a 16v?

Cheers,

Sheffy

Have any pics by chance? I know the insurance wouldn't change for me at all but that's probably something you'll want to call and check on. 1300 EUR is $1,699 US... Seems legit for a DX EK hatch (If that's what it is)

So long as it checks out mechanically, that's a great deal!
Also, not sure how your insurance situations are over there. Here in the US, it's based on driving record, vehicle's retail value, vehicle's condition, motor (sports car etc.), neighborhood where the vehicle resides, and how far you drive it.

I heard insurance is more killers in the U.K than the U.S, I have fam living in both countries. I only pay R250 (about $25) for full cover insurance for a 150i 2000 civic.
