Dudes!

I have this sharp clicking noise in the motor when it reaches operating temp. Most noticeable during accelerating but is there during off-throttle. It isnt ping. Can it be valve clearances??? I just done 'em 6 months ago. It sounds like those ignitors on stoves and ovens that ignite the gas, you know, those piezo click ignitors. What the f@#k is it! I have no idea. I think that it is coming from behind the motor. There isnt a performance problem but I think I'm heading for something major. Please help dudes!

All the best,
Jazzah

almost like a rattle, but it stops once its nice and warm? most likely heat sheilds (my sheild for my cat is real bad, waiting till i have a chance to put it on the lift and cut it off) it might be the same for you. lean out your door when you start the engine and look under the car. then tap the throttle a little, i can actually see the shield vibrate.

I had a rock caught between my shield and piping...a warm shield and a nice hammer took care of that problem

my jeep does this, but its a cracked exaust manifold thats making the noise, sounds like there is a stick in the fan or something, so that might be something to look into

Cheers! I will look at that. Sounds like a snap. Im gonna re-adjust the valve clearances to eliminate this. Otherwise, if my ZC still runs, I'm happy. As long as it doesnt shat itself at midnight on a quiet road on Halloween!!!

if the clicking noise is consistent and accelerates and decelerates w/ throtle it may be your injectors. It kinda sounds like valve lash. That classic honda tick that u hear as an engine gets older is the injectors- the ones honda uses are loud

Hey man!

Cheers! The sound is coming from around the injectors. I just cant seem to pin point it. Tried the screwdriver against the ear trick and everything else. But, it does sound more electrical, so injectors may be the problem. Maybe the seals are going, letting more noise out. It is a 12 year old motor. Sure is gettin' along but she's still sweet.
