so i really like this shift knob that my cousin gave me but its the stupid ones that dont screw on like stock ones, it uses those small rivets that tighten around the shifter. well does anyone know of anyways to get it to stay. i can get it real tight but it still always losens and sometimes comes off when i shift. any help would be great thanks

sounds like a stock knob would be better. i'd get a better one if you're trying to go aftermarket. loose aftermarket shiftknob FTL

I used some lock-tight on the little screws that hold it in place cuz I was having the same problem. They make different strengths of the stuff so you wont have to break an arm if you need to get it back off. Mine has held for about a month now and no problems, first week without the lock-tight it came off twice.

if by rivits you mean small screws that screw in with an allen key then you have two options..

1. get longer screws with the same threading
2. as ghetto as it sounds.. som duct tape to fatten up the shifter shaft

i did both on my old car.. the tape till i found the screws.. both actually worked fine..

if you mean actual rivits.. you are on your own.. because i have no idea how you would rivit on a shift knob..

that tape idea that oc was talking about works...one day i as bored and was messing aroud trying to get my knob to stay on better...and i used electrical tape around the shaft...pushed the knob on and screwed the screws in place...works like a beauty...
