Shifter Rattles...

And it drives me nuts. It's a stock B series shift linkage with an eGay short shifter. It never rattled previously, but rattles where the lower part of the shifter connects to the linkage. It's like a metal-on-metal rattling. If I hold the shifter, it goes away (obviously). I tried some wd-40 just to see if that would help, no dice. Anyone else every experience this? Anything I can do to get it cut the s**t? Possibly put something in close to where the shifter is bolted onto the linkage?

Just sounds like shifter bushings to me..
sorry if you of course already checked that.
If your entire shifter moves even when it's in gear, that's it.
Try some energy suspension bushings and tell me if they're good before I buy 'em!

Replace it with an OEM shifter, and new bushings. Guarantee you it will go away.

when i got my car it had a piece of one of those noodles that you find in the pool toy areas, cut and stuffed under the center console around the shifter, i took it out and it rattled for a while after that. energy suspension bushings are great, i got those, and it doesnt rattle any more.

it is probably the heat shield on your exhaust.. I almost guarantee!!! Same issue with my short shifter before i removed it. the heat shield is literally located beneath you shifter.

I've had the same problem since I've installed my B&M short shifter...I'm gonna get a GSR shifter now since the B&M is too low for me (I have to lean forward to go into 5th gear)

ya... it was gone the first time i saw it. i cleaned out my interior, removed everything from the front and ran 7 gallons of carpet cleaner through my carpet and seats. it was nasty.
