Shifter sloppy while in gear with buzz noise

Hey guys,

I just picked up an SI with a short shifter already installed. B&M i think...not 100% sure. The shifts are nice and solid, but there is considerable amount of side-to-side play while in gear. The shifter is sloppy while in gear. Also, there is a slight buzzing coming from the shifter while in gear at 60-70mph. I can make it go away by holding the shifter slightly off center while in gear, but i don't want to keep my hand on the shifter all the time.

Any suggestions on the matter? Some old oem parts that i will need to replace?

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Get under the car and look. Could be worn out bushing or something but since you have an aftermarket part on the car. It might of just been installed wrong.

Would the wrong linkage be a possibility as well? Like if it's the wrong size?

Its normal to have a little side to side as there is nothing stopping the shift linkage from moving

I think the buzzing is just vibrations probably. And you'll always have some side to side play. Hell my friends civic has 2-3" to each side lol.

Do u have an aftermarket exaust? My ex gf had one and at the same time her bushing was wore out so it rubbed a little on her exaust
