Short ram intake problem

Ok, so I've had this intake in my car since '01 and have never fixed this problem, nor do I know what to do to remedy this. As you can see in the pic, next to the distributor cap I have probably the worst looking way of holding my intake down. It is made for the LX and fits fine and all but it presses against my hood if I don't do this. Anyone else have this problem? I'm afraid if I just let it sit it will rattle or damage the filter (which does need replacing) or something. Any ideas how to fix this, preferably something that doesn't look bad (since as you can see I already pulled that off nicely)

And yes I know I need to clean the bay

take that same bracket and bolt it to one of the existing bolts on the shock tower.

yeah bend it to wherew your original air box mounted to the body, you can use one of your mounting bolts to hold it it would have the rubber gasket on it as well thats what i did to a friend of mines it looks fine.

ok the whole idea is to fix this without replacing it. Besides why spend that much money to gain another 1/2hp by going with a CAI?

hehe, I just like the CAI..you are actually pulling in cooler air...but back to the topic...can you post more pictures....that looks really weird how you have screwed it down...can you know screw it to the strut tower bolts?

I could except that would require some extreme twisting of the bracket I have in place

no the bracket came like that. I'm don't know where I'm supposed to mount it, there were no instructions with the intake so I just had to guess (which wasn't fun since I was new to the import thing back then)

ok here are some more pics of how this is currently installed. The last one is the area you are all suggesting I mount it too. Could you show me exactly what you're talking about so I can visually have an idea of what you're talking about.

Ok, I put a pic of mine on the left, I have an AEM cai, and it mounts to right below where the strut bar attaches to. Could you just take off the bolt for that silver bracket and mount the bracket from your intake right there?

cai's dont give you as much power as sri's uptop where honda's thrive... that's been dyno proven. cai's = waste of money.

and the rubbing shouldnt do any damage besides a couple of scuff marks. and your filter shouldnt need replacing, you can use teh k&n filter re-charge kit on pretty much every wannabe k&n filter.

I agree with the filter...just throw the K&N filter recharge kit, that stuff works wonders..

As for CAI is a waste of money..hahaha..are you serious?...with CAI you are actually pulling in cool air from the bumper as oppose to sucking in the hot engine bay air...and the SRI is at the top of the engine bay where heat rises...so you are sucking in HOT air...instead of COLD DENSE air which will give you more power...sorry man, dont agree with ya

I'm gonna try mounting where you're suggesting machinehead115. As for just cleaning it, I know I can use the charging kit (I already have one) but if you look at the pics closely you can see the metal cap at the end of it has fallen off and I just want a new one that looks better.
