the bushings are different because the linkages agre different.

x2 on a steel, B&M (has the greatest throw reduction) and skunk2

you wont need anthing else besides patience.

Put shitty parts on your car, turn your car into a shitty car =)
save up and buy a quality short throw, unless you like being a ricer, with cheap s**t and fart cans. just my .02

There's a number of threads already on this exact topic. Some of them specifically compare feel and performance of Skunk2 to B&M.

After reading most of them, I've decided to source a GSR dual-bend stock shifter for OEM reliability; mostly because it seems like the ergonomic geometry is slightly less than comfortable than the others.

But whatever you do, don't do eBay. It's not a reliable choice for this kind of product.

i got the energy suspension with a b&m with no bend in it. PWJDM balanced knob. i love it and installed it in about a hourish. just take that whole part of the shift linkage out. only that one bar has to come out. super easy

btw just wondering whats the difference between the aluminum and the steel short shifters?

aluminum shifters have the reputation of snapping during shifts down the road.
a steel shifter is stronger and usually made with better quality.

I bought a Skunk2 short shifter for my EM1 and installation was simple. I would recommend buying a shifter bushing kit because if you don't you're shifter is going to feel sloppy. Mine actually is starting to rattle when on the freeway because I didn't get a new kit.

i bought my short throw for $16 including shipping on ebay. been using it for 5 years now, with a d series and a b-series trans, and i work great. i agree buying cheap parts is ricey, but depends on the part. a shifter is a damn piece of metal. im not gonna pay $60 for something when i can pay $16 and get the same damn thing

it also depends on how much force you are using to shift. if your the kind of person that slams it into gear really hard, then your going to break it. if you do mostly daily driving you shouldnt have any problems with it.
