some kits just include replacing the shift stick itself, the other extreme is replacing the entire shift linkage and bushings which is supposed to give you a smoother shifting motion. There are a ton of in between kits as well.

Step 1: get a hacksaw and some JB Weld
Step 2: cut your factory shifter down to...ummm...let's say MX5 Miata length.
Step 3: JB Weld the shift knob back on.
VOILA! Factory Honda short shifter.

I really thought about doing that... Sad but true, it would only be a temp thing. But since I dont really know when i would get a real one. I didnt do it incase it ened up being months and I hated it. Stock it not that bad. I am almost suprised all the JDMers dont flame people with aftermarket shifters....Beelzebubba said:

The tranny in my old Celica came out of a Toyota truck so that's how I fixed the length of the shifter until I got the right one.
I looked like one of those RatFink drawings with a 2 foot long shifter before that.

I just thought you might find it funny that I thought about it. Never got anywhere.. But in your case you gotta do what ya gotta do.
