Hi, I have been searching for the past week and I still cant find the answer am looking for. About three months ago I bought a used engine to swap into my ride, it was a 98 d16y8. At the time that I installed the engine I also installed a Intake,header,exhaust,hi-flo cat, fuel rail, underdrive pulley kit, msd,and a cam gear. Car worked great for about a month and then I started to get detonation, and two days after it started when I was on the freeway it popped and turned off, I tried to turn it back on but it would'nt turn back on. When I got it home I checked the engine and it looked good but when I checked the spark plugs they were all orangey color and on one of them it looked like the piston was hiiting on it because the little metal peace where you gap them was bent. So my question is sense I'm going to add a jackson racing s/c and a 50shot of nos(maybe) should I build my motor like alot of the guys that go turbo or should I get a new engine and transfer all my mods and add the s/c and leave the engine alone because their is no need to build the engine with my set up? Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for your help.

I would, you don't need to swap. My friends Crx with the original D16A6 runs 12.4s all day long with the stock bottem end. My bros Maxima runs 12.9s with original vq35de. Swaping is the lazy way out.

A friend recommened that I get my head port and polished, ferrea valves, crower rods, JE pistons with 9:1 compression and .20 over stock bore. and just get my block bored. Would that be good, this is all real new to me.

Those are all good. What type of induction would you want to use...nitrous, turbo, s/c, n/a? I ask because the head work, cam, valves and pistons need to be done to match the set-up.

I want to use a jackson racing supercharger and a 50 shot from NX stage one EFI system. I was thinking of getting a camshaft from crower but am not sure.

Since you want to go with the s/c you need to use lower comp. pistions like 9:1 and maybe lower if you are going to use alot of boost. The cam sholud be matched with the amount of supercharged boost you are going to use. The cylinder head also need to be done in association with a supercharged to work the best. ( why have an n/a worked head on a s/c engine?)

Do you have a local performance machine shop you can get to? If so tell them what is in you plans and they should be able to do what you ask and even have better ideas. If not I know a great place that I use for alot of thing and they are the best.
