I actually had the opportunity to visit a small town called Pleasant Grove that was impacted by the same tornado that hit Tuscaloosa all the way through Birmingham this past Saturday. We helped take water, nonperishable foods, hygenic products, etc. to them. What I saw when I arrived was just unreal. Everything looked fine until we got around a curve and then over a hill, there was literally nothing after that. It looked like a bulldozer a mile wide just went through the place. The survey results to date say that there were 16 confirmed tornadoes in Alabama, but they are still surveying damage around the state. The one that went from Tuscaloosa to Birmingham was classified as an EF-4 tornado with wind speeds up to 190 mph. The widest point measured on the tornado track was 1.5 miles wide. It stayed on the ground for 80.3 miles or 1 hour and 31 min. The confirmed tornadoes are 1 EF-0, 2 EF-1, 3 EF-2, 6 EF-3, 3 EF-4, and 1 EF-5.
