is it just me or does that turbo take a lil' long to spool? i'm usually at full boost by the time i hit 6grand

ummm...he must have a huge turbo cuz that thing doesnt spool very hard to hes way up in the RPMs...

It does spool really late, note the boost gauge above the vents. The link said the car has 538whp, so he probably has a gigantic turbo.
