I want to shave my side moldings...someone told me when you do the door handles you have to weld a piece of metal over the hole....do you have to do the same for the molding or can i just use a boddy filler...and if i can use a body filler, what is a good kind to use.

bondo will hold, but i guess it's better if you fill the holes from the molding in with a weld.... something for the bondo to hold to. I wanted to do the same thing.

I would take out the plastic molding first. Then weld a strip of sheetmetal over where the molding was. Then use body filler over that.

my friends filled his side molds last year with bondo and it worked fine just use an electric rounding sander to smooth it out and make it flush, his worked out fine and it looks perfect. and yeah the door handle is spot welded in and smoothed over. good luck

just bondo has tendency to crack. buddy's car is like that, looks good from outside(for now), but when you open door and look at the jams, you can tell its bondo and can see how its starting to break up

I'm scared of mine crackin'. Would it be possible for me to put those moldings back? Or my friend said I could sheet metal the thing.
