well im peicing a turbo kit together and im trying to have it look as sleeperish as posible. my plans are to use the stock heatshield to cover the manifold/turbo and to try and use my blue aem cold air intake as part of my i/c piping for a sidemount. im hoping it will kind of make it look like all i have is an intake in my car. anyways, my question is could you hide a bov and how would i attach it to the intake piping?

you normally weld the bov flange to the piping although i know ppl who have used jb weld. you can weld the bov on the pipe after the side mount. that would hide it but the normal place for it is between the cooler and the TB

I don't think the stock heat shield will fit over the turbo housing.
Also, it depends which manifold you get.

what motor are you turboing?

If you plan on installing a blow-off valve, as soon as you go to shift everyone's gonna know you got turbo.............sounds like a waste to me............

run an hf mani and find the sheild for that. you can modify it a bit so it doesn't hit the turbo. as for the bov. a dsm isn't very loud AND there's ways to mount it that will basically cancel out its sound. you'll have to do some searching cuz i forgot which ways were quietest.

OR recirculate the bov back into the system. i don't know very much about doing that so again you'd have to do your own research but that would totally eliminate the bov sound

but i agree. its kinda a waste to try to make your turbo setup sleeper from within the engine bay. once you pop that hood any intelligent guy will recognize the setup. i think as long as you keep it sleepr on the outside your good to go. but it will be cool to see what you come up with when your done hiding everything. be sure to take pics

well, im trying to make it very sleeper to the untuned eye. and for the tuners, something to where you need to take a second look to see what it is. the bov doesnt need to be super quiet but im thinking of just going with a dsm one.

mr. lin- a d16z6. i forgot where but i seen a picture of someone using the stock heatsheild to cover the manifold.

yah the hf mani shield can still be used, you jsut have to cut/bend/modify for the turbo .

mount a 1g dsm before the sidemount(between smic and turbo) and have it face the engine. i think that will be the quietest location

take pics when its all done
