Okay well I recently bought my first Honda. Its a 00 si and pretty clean. Needs a lot of love which I have fixed/changed a lot of things on it already. And of course here is pic...

My real question is I have a chance to get basically a free (my sister is giving me the car) 99 ex. I've done a little searching around about engine types...b series d series blah blah. From what I understand it should have a d16y something correct? And it is a 1.6 sohc possible vtec IF its a ex? And also unfortunately its a auto. So I dont think it'd be hard to do a manual swap? Pedals(brake and clutch) shift linkage, master and slave cylinder, possible half shafts? Not sure what else I would need. Really need some input cause I would really like to take the car and do a 5spd swap and just sell my si and build the ex the way I want it.

Well I really like the si but i've ran into some trouble with it as soon as I bought. First off didnt have a drop of tranny fluid in it. Drove it all day around town then it started grinding 5th. I immediately starting going through the car and figured that out. Also it smokes a little but not bad. From what i've been tould b16's especially burn a lot of oil and most Vtec's burn during Vtec cause of valve stem seals but mine smokes a little even when not in Vtec. Other than that its a great car. I would just like to start fresh and have something that hasnt been beat up its whole life.

Thats good news I didnt think a 5spd swap would be that difficult...and motor is what I hoped it to be.

Why dont you use the EX as a DD, and park the SI and work on all the problems it has...:what:

Idunno I kinda bought the si to fix up and sell maybe make some money off it but im getting more addicted to em. I figured I could build the ex with the money from the si. I really want to do a turbo setup on the d16 in the future. I could deff put the money away and have it when im ready.

Well obliviously my b16 wouldnt like any boost thrown at it with 140k. d16's are super cheap and apparently can handle a little boost on a stock block. Theres too many options with hondas lol Id end up having a s***t ton of money in the si building it right. The ex is basically a clean slate to start on.

Also do the ex's have rear disc brakes? or is that just the si
