some help please

Ok I have posted several times on clubintegra and for some reason my post's dont show up. My problem is the speedo stopped working in my 96 ls teg. From what I have gathered it was acting up for a while and then just stopped working. I have replaced the speed sensor and checked all of the fuses. Still no worky.My cruise doesnt work either. I was thinking maybe the cluster but I'm not sure, so any imput would be great.
Also wouold a cluster from a 5speed work on my auto?

I think this is not in the right section. This is civic 6th gen. I would say it is probably a wiring problem. That is just a guess though.

doesnt matter if the cluster is auto or manual in civic world so i imagine its the same there...

the problem you describe definately sounds like the VSS but since you say you swapped it im not sure what else it could be..

When did the speedo stop working,and what did it do? did the needle just drop to zero or what? Does anything else in your cluster work like gas gauge, tach, and temp? Do the backlights for the cluster still work?Did anything else quit working? Is anything else in your car acting up? And exactly what fuses have you checked?

I just bought the car recently. my sister and her husband ownd it before and she said it was acting up, sometimes it would drop to zero and come back up. Then one day it droped and hasnt worked since. everything else in the cluster works except the speedo. I checked the under dash fuses (1 by 1) and the fuses on by the fire wall (engine side).

its gotta be throwing a code, since its obd 2, you should be able to get the code and find out exactly what the problem is, make sure the piece the VSS connects to is in the tranny all the way as well

I am begining to wonder if I got the wrong vss. I bought one off ebay and its identical to the one in my z6 auto tranny. Are the auto vss's the same? My engine light is on as well so maybe I'll find out what diff codes mean and go from there, unless someone has a list handy. The sensor gear housing is all the way in the trans with the bolts tight. Thanks

I wanted to share my success over the vss issue. I have an obd1 vtec harness and decided to swap plugs and That seemd to do the trick. Thanks for all of your help.
