Sometimes you go out on a limb and that limb ends up breaking..

I've been wanting a fuel pressure gauge for my car (I run Nitrous and low FP is NOT a good thing). I haven't had much luck in the past with electrical sending units and would prefer a mechanical gauge. Anyway, always wondered what a hood mount (like the old school domestics) would look like so I decided to give it a try. I didn't have much to lose by trying right?

Anyway, I'm not really crazy about it and will be removing it and begrudgingly going with an electric unit but I'll post the pics anyway.

Ran the wire for the light through the washer line :P for a "cleaner/non-cluttered" look:

Just had to drill 2 small holes underneath the hood and fastened it with some stainless nuts and washers. Can be removed in about 2 minutes.

All in all it took me a couple of hours and about $10 in hardware. Oh well. It was worth a try.

Yea, well sometimes you just have to give something a shot. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

That's a non-issue if I was planning on keeping it. I don't park this car anywhere besides my garage.

the "sniper" hoods have a vent coming towards you and a guage fits in there without notice to anyone but the driver

true, this time it definetely didn't

but you could make it work, get like the A-pillar gauge pods, cut one of the pod housings out, put that gauge in it, mold it to your hood, fiberglass, bondo, paint and i bet it'd look clean and more like the "classic" muscle car type deal....would be a fun project
