You need get a better idea. The effort is NOT worth it to try to install 2 headunits. Just keep the other one on the side if you are worried about 'burning it out'...

You wanted 2 headunits in the car for real??? :what:

But if you are really set on completing this dumb task, you would install just like you would any other headunit I would guess. With the addition of some switch to swap between headunits.

dude if you cant help why even reply...your post is the dumb one...the forums are here to ask questions and recieve ANSWERS. if i wanted your opinion i would of asked. the switch to swap between units is common sense. That doesnt answer my question at all....maybe go to off topic threads or yahoo chat room if you just feel like bullshitting...peace

I did answer your question bro (see my last 2 senetences). Thats the only way I would know how. Would you like me to get more tehcnical? Put a switch in line of your amps RCA cables (signal) so you can switch them.

Im sorry, I thought i lived in the USA, where expression of my opinion is a RIGHT... my bad. I'll shut up about your idea of having 2 headunits in your car at the same time JUST TO SAVE THE LIFE OF BOTH, is silly. Really. Just DONT install the other and when it shits on you, install the other until you get it fixed or another unit.

EDIT: Its like buying 2 TV's and watching them seperately just to 'save the life of both'. Even if you didnt buy the second tv/hu, its still a complete waste IMHO.

I dunno about installing physically, but electronically, I guess the easiest way would be to get some kind of multi-pole swith that you can fit in where the ISO adapter is. When ever i've installed stereos in cars i've left the stock wiring intact and cut throuh the replaceable ISO adapter so that if i need to return to stock I can.

The most effective way would be a bank of relays that you can switch from the dash that would just flcik and that changes the position of all the relays.

If you do it further along the chain you'll have to remeber to do RCAs and amp remote, but also route all the incoming leads too (lights dimmer, constant power, switched power, power aerial, aerial in etc etc). doing it all around the ISO adapter means you have it all in one place and you got nice colour coded cables!

It'll be a bloody pain in the ass tho wiring all that up.

Actually it is a completely lame Idea. First off, why would you want to do it. The dvd player will process you cd at 24 bit da conversion while your cd player will only do it at 1 bit. So you would want to ruin your sq just to add another head unit.
The correct way to do what you want is to get a stand alone dvd player and a plain am-fm monitor. Run the dvd as your head and use the monitor only for videos.

Trying to set it up the way you want is kinda dumb. Forget the cd and only run your dvd
