my automatic shift knob fell out. well the screw fell out. and know i have to push down on the shift knob and press on the button to shift from park to drive. then i tried screwing it back but my car thinks the shifter is still in gear and when i try to remove the key it wont let me remove it. theres this white bearing thats suppose to be resting on the shift knob but when i try to slide it back in it wont give in.

im considering on either converting to manual but ive seen a thread here about automatic shifters which some look pretty cool. like putting a shift boot and a automatic shift knob making it look like its a manual. lol

haha thats nice one. i dont know. i was going to work and when i was gonna put it in reverse the whole thing came off, i was like wtf. i was thinking it was gonna lock when i leave it on park. but the little screw came off

I've done a lot of bizarre s**t to cars in the past but never been able to rip a shifter off an auto before, i tip my hat to ya, never even heard of anybody doing that either. I didnt know you could even take them off yourself let alone just pull them off. No ideas how the hell you get the thing back on but i wish you the best of luck with it. But damn thats still impressive lol

haha, when i worked at the Lube, i would CONSTANTLY break auto shifters, and i have no idea how. that little button on the left would fly out and hit the driver side door. and i would have the shifter in my hand, like you have...i always gave it to my manager to fix

i just know its a pain in the ass to put back together, but it can be done. unless you actually broke something

Well the buttons still in it, cant have done too much damage. Does it not work pushing the shifter back on and trying to twist and push the button in and out to get it back in the right spot? I'd have thought it just popped back in place but then im not used to auto's, only drove them in New Zealand in LA, so not really used to fixin' s**t in them lol. Never drive a chrysler pt cruiser around LA >.>

thats what i would do.

just dont pretend you drive it like a manual. theres a guy around here who shifts 1, then 2, then drive, jsut to sound cool. dont be like him. lol
