I don't want to spend the big bucks for Dynamat, it seems really overpriced for what it is.

There used to be a company that made a product called brownbread, which they've replaced with another product which seems pretty cheap.

or do any of you members have experience with other forms of soundproofing that worked well and didn't break the bank.

thanks ahead of time.

I'm currently soundproofing my civic- I'm using a variety of methonds. My foundation is fatmat sound deadener from eBay- not too bad of quality, about $100 for 120 feet. I have also been playing around with spray on rubber and don't laugh... shower mat liner. That liner can be bought for about $1 a foot and is a very durable 40mil rubber padding. Combine that with some 3M spray glue and you have a nice ghetto dampening solution. I'm also playing with the idea of using the expanding foam for a few crevices.... maybe.

Will post pictures if you like...

go to Lowes and buy Peel and Seal. 19.99 for 50 sq. ft. Its under the roofing section. I applied two layers and used a heat gun to apply it. Definetly made a huge difference. Some people complain about the smell but i didn't notice anything. I've had it for about a year and its still going strong. The weather got upto 100 degress outside and probably more in the car and it still held up. Also, for the floor get some carpet padding. It will make your car almost as quiet as a lexus. I have an exhaust which is pretty loud on the outside but i have a difficult time hearing it inside the car. That is unless i have the windows down or the sunroof open. But that just defeats the whole purpose.

I just used regular home insulation in my trunk. Tucked it away under my third brake light and the rattling stopped and my bass sounds good again. And its CHEAP!

I've seen people use spray in bedliner with good results. If you use that expanding foam be careful not to use very much, it will bend steel if it can't expand.

Arcane is right.. I've seen it before, where the quarterpanel looked like a parade, it had so many waves..

for the record, I just did this today and yesterday and it made absolutely no difference what so ever, don't waste your time with carpet padding.

was that all just one roll of the fatmat? Or did you have to buy more then 1 set?

that was all done with about 1 and a half rolls. i still have a ton left to do my doors and headliner.

--and about the heavy thing... its about 20lbs worth of s**t. but well worth it IMO.
