Alright guys... a couple weeks ago I got some Alpine 6.5's and 6x9's. I have them wired up to two seperate amps and they worked fine, until today. Now I have this annoying whine in the rears only and when my engine revs up the whine increases also. When the headlights are on the noise is really bad but when off it's hardly noticable. Also when my head unit is turned off there is no whine at all. HELP!!!! this noise is driving me insane

That noise comes from a bad ground.

Damn, beat me to it.

Ground, isolate, check your power source. (Typically Hondas are pretty quiet....not anything like a Ford :P )

I didn't use factory wiring and I think I found the problem this morning. I realized that I ran the source cables next to the power cables so that's part of it anyways. I also checked my grounds and they seem fine but if that doesn't work I'll move them. Thank's for all the input. Oh and I searched around and found stuff about feedback but never a whine so I asked.

Alright guys thank's for the input and that diagram. It helped. I needed to separate the power wires from the RCA's and speaker wires and I also grounded the amps better. Sorry for repeated question.

Ok now I'm curious, my whine isnt coming from my sub, but my speaker, I sanded down the ground and still get whine. the power and RCA's are both run down my drivers side so i want to run the RCA's down the other side, but that involves removing all my interior panelling, and im at school w/o anywhere to do the work, is there an easier way to run them? or should i just have a shop re-run them for me. if that's the answer any idea $$ ballpark on that labor?

I didn't want to rerun it either but I ended up having to. My wiring WAS running down the passenger side so I just took out the RCA's and speaker wires. Then i took out the passenger seat and pulled the carpet up enough to get my hand in there and ran it under the carpet by the shifter and the e-brake. It took me maybe 2 hours and I did it outside in my driveway. That's how I did it and it worked for me. I have no clue how much it would cost to get it done for you though.

Honda Civics' ECU give off weird electrical niose. Do not run anything by the ECU except power. Run RCA and speaker wires down the center of the car. The driver side also has wires running down it as well. honda Civics are on of the trickiest cars to wire for sound.

I ended up moving the ECU to under the seat. It made a huge difference.
