Hey

Im just curious of if any of you guys have put speakers in the back of your 3dr 92 civics? I was thinking of somehow putting them in where the door would of been? has anyone else tried this?

Any thoughts?

thanks!

all it looks like is an oval speaker cover, with mounts beihind it. this is all found where there is a 3x14 rectangular in the cars that didn't come with this option.

I got 2 Kenwood speakers in the back of my 3dr. The guy i bought the car from had them already installed there. So i dont know anything about he did it or junk like that. It sounds pretty tight though. Eventually i wanna cut out a bigger space and put some 6x9's in there.

VERY nice!

Thats exactly what I want to do..
Making the whole would be easy, just the whole custom bracket thing might be difficult..
I'd rather put a custom bracket in, instead of just having it mounted to the panel..

Did the custom bracket take much work?

Its not much of a "bracket"... All i did was take 3" stanley mending plates (just flat plates) and for the side of the speaker towards the rear of the car, i just brought them together and used the existing screw on the part in the center of the opening. On the front, i attached them to the speaker, and then with a pencil marked where the holes needed to be for it to line up with the holes that are there. On the top one there is a piece of metal inside that has a hole i used. The bottom i used the holes on the plastic. Then i used little rubber spacers to make it so the speaker was even space from the panel. You can IM me on aim, icq, yahoo, or msn if you want. My sn's are in my profile. Just lemme know if u have anymore questions...

And yeah the holes was easy, i just marked it, then drilled a hole with the biggest bit i had, then used a mini-hacksaw to cut it out, then smoothed the edges with my dremel tool.

btw... those are 4" grills... all that will fit on that panel

I think the wires for the rear speakers are run back there in all hatchbacks... I cant garauntee it though. My DX has em. Just pull off your panel (fold the seat down, then take a putty knife or somthin flat and pop the panel out) then reach your arm ALL THE WAY to the bottom of the opening, and feel for the wires. They should be taped to the bottom with blue electrical tape. I recommend doing this first on the passenger side because all the wiring for the tail lights and crap are running on the driver side, so do passenger side first so you get an idea of where to feel for them first. Wiring for an amp and subwoofer is not run in any of them, i had to run that myself. It wasnt bad, i just ran it all along the driver side... Under the door jam, then along the opening where the rear speakers are, and i have it coming out of the pop-out panels for the tail lights... so basically just follow it along tail light wiring.

hmm if i do this,
i'll have 2 x 6 inch speakers ..

What can i do with them :/

Wouldn't fit in the front doors, im pretty sure the frontdoors would only fit 4's wouldn't they?
