I had a 1995 civic ex that wouldn't start sometimes. My main relay wouldn't kick in sometimes, so the fuel pump wouldn't prime. When you turn the key to "on" (not actually cranking the car) all your instruments light up. You should be able to hear one click, then the fuel pump should hum, and then another click, and the check engine light should disappear. Well my problem was sometimes this process would never start. I replaced the main relay with an aftermarket relay and it fixed the problem for a little while, then it came back. I sold the car not long after that but not for that reason alone. I've learned since then that Honda's don't respond well to aftermarket ignition components and that with an OEM relay I may not have ever had that problem.

Why make a technical thread if your strategy is just to replace parts at random?
You don't need help for that.

You need to make troubleshooting your strategy.

What car and engine?

Any CEL codes?

When the engine won't start:

Is there bright white spark at all 4 spark plugs?

Do you hear the fuel pump prime?

It's a 98 civic ex 1.6 sohc. All stock. Cel is on now wasn't before. It had a previous code for a temp sensor but it doesn't act flooded. When it doesn't start I have good spark and the fuel pump does run. Tuneup was done maybe 10k ago. It just always acts like a bad ignitor. Get some heat in it and it won't restart. Let it cool for a while and it will fire.

Pull the codes now. What codes do you retrieve? Then reset the ECU to see whether the same codes repeat.

In the meantime, unplug the ECT sensor (2-wire plug below the distributor) and then try to start the engine. Does it now start?

I had the same thing sort of man. My issue was a wire on the distributor itself was shorted. I didn't realize until i had a mechanic come check it out. just throwing my 2 cents in.
