Starting problem...

I got a 89 Civic Dx d15b2.... Just recently it hasnt been starting, or turning over for that matter. I knew my battery was on its way out so i figured well maybe it just doesn't have enough juice to turn over the starter. Replaced the battery, nothing. I can pushstart the car so i thought well maybe it could be the clutch safety switch... Replaced that, nothing. So i took out the battery and intake n everything to get to the starter, took the starter out and got it tested, and its putting out 10V when it should be 12-14... But i would think at 10V it should still turn over. Well, put everything back together, screwed in the new clutch safety switch, and it started right up. Started perfect the next two days but then last night, wouldnt turn over again. I am stumped and have no idea what the problem is.. I dont know if it is the starter, bad connection somewhere, or whats going on. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

i would say replace the starter.

Thats what I'm thinking but I dont wanna drop 80 bucks on a starter if thats not my problem... Thats why Im trying to get opinions, so I dont waste my money.

Is the rubber stopper that presses on the starter switch at the top of clutch pedal damaged? Does the clutch pedal need to be adjusted so that the switch is full depressed when the pedal is down?

They are fine. Even if i go down and press the button in all the way with my finger and turn the key, it still wont start

When the starter won't crank -- If you hold the switch button all the way in or jump the switch connector, does battery voltage reach the starter solenoid terminal on the starter?

Idk I haven't checked. I don't have any time to go through it and figure out what it is between work and school so I dropped it off at the shop up the road and he's gonna look through it and figure out the problem

It would have been pretty easy to pinpoint with a few more tests. The mechanic won't be cheap for a job that would likely have been pretty straightforward.

my dad is good friends with him so hes looking through it for free, pinpointing the problem then ill replace it myself.. I have school in the mornings, work through the afternoon and then school again at night so i really dont have much time sadly.
