Steering Wheel QR = Whoa, so close!

Well, in my current quest to prevent thievery, I bought and installed a NRG quick release hub. Holy s**t! it brings the steering wheel closer by about 3 inches! Way too close and I can't reach the turn signals without taking my hands off the wheel. I know that there is a shorty hub made by Splash but that s**t is $157. Ridiculous pricing in my opinion. Anyone know of alternatives that are more price competitive? I don't mind paying, say $70, but $157 is just WAY TOO MUCH. Thanks.

his seat sliding back wont fix the problem of taking his hands off the wheel to hit his turn signals, which seems to bother him ;)

The seat is slid back all the way. I've just decided to get the Works Bell shorty hub. f**k it. I'll just pay for it and be done with it.

before making my own thread about the same subject I figured I'd jack this one. Any recommendable QR hubs that i can get with money being an issue (I live on Ebay so if it can be found there even better). How do I know what wheel will fit my car or what hub do i need. I would like to avoid the same problem eg6_310 is having, and Jezek I bite my nails, and Im mad tall so sliding the seat wont work.

$300 for a Sparco hub? lmfao...I dunno who tried to rape you, but they average $75-$80 :what:

Eliver - Go with NRG...best product for you $. Trust me, you don't want to cheap out on anything that has to do with your steering... You can prolly get the NRG QR for about $80-$100 now.

Eh, I don't think there's an alternate solution as far as i could see. I looked last night online for different possibilities here and in Japan. Nada. So I said the hell with it and picked up the Works Bell hub. The gap between the steering wheel and turn signal is now much more "comfortable," about the same distance as on my 240 with a Momo hub and Nardi dished wheel.

for the regular quick release hub from sparco its $300

taken directly from the sparco website who controls the price of all their products. If you find sparco stuff for cheaper its not an authorized sparco sale or its a knock off.

Don't know if you were referring to the price I put up.. that was in reference to the NRG quick release hub. As far as the Sparco goes, it's not keyed so you can't mount the steering wheel back into the original position automatically after taking it off. It's a racecar-intended piece, not ideal for street use.

I know, just stating that 157 isnt bad for a QR hub and showing jezek that the sparco QR piece isnt $80 like he said it was. Enjoy the new hub

The 157 isn't for a QR hub. You mis-read. It's for a static hub, just a shorty version of the Momo.

I thought you meant for the HUB, not the QR ;)

I think I discovered a rather elegant alternative to the NRG Quick Release system.

http://www.aspecproducts.com/images.asp?theid=6112

I'm gonna go take a look at this and if it's sound, I'm gonna pick one up for the EG. It's only an inch thick, compared to... what?... like 3 inches for the NRG QR? Anyone interested in buying a 5 day old NRG hub in silver? =)
