Stereo Trouble

I bought a system over the past few weeks. I have a Solo Baric Kicker L5 powered by a 1400 Pioneer Amp. My car won't start because the amp is sucking too much power from the battery. I had to buy a new battery because a cell in my old one died. I feel really stupid driving around with loud door speakers but with no sub. My alternator can't keep up, and I'm hearing multiple stuff from different people. Someone told me that a capacitor would help it, and then others say I need a new alternator. Help?

Big 3 upgrade and a bigger alternator. I had a cap in mine and ended up taking it out recently. The big 3 upgrade helped me more than that thing did. Waste of money IMO. Now I have a nice shiny cap sitting on the shelf in the garage that isn't going to be used.

If you insist on going the cap route, you would be better off getting another battery and running that along with your current one. It will help you better than the cap will.

I'm researching it now, but could you give me some details on "The Big Three" upgrade?

A cap is a bandaid. The big 3 coupled with a high output alternator is what you need. Once your system requirements exceed 120% of your alternators output, damage is inevitably incurred. Add that to the factory electrical demands and it soon becomes no surprise that your alternator is toast.
