Had a '99 SI down for some work and maintinence and i am wondering the best way to start it back up. I would like to get oil back into the cylinders and head as easily as possible as it has been sitting for a few months. Is just dropping some in the spark plug good or is there a way to turn the oil pump without combustion. Just weighing options to be gentle on the engine before i crank her over. thanks

How long has it been sitting?
When was the last general maintenance done?

6 months, just changed all fluids and gas. car was in fine working order before, just wondering how harsh a dry start up can be and the most gentle way to prep her for cranking over.

6 months is nothing. Just fire it up.

Agreed, I figured it had been sitting for at least a year for you to have those concerns(and even then you can start it up just fine depending on conditions). Just start it up, and let it idle for around 5 minutes to get even lubrication throughout the engine and you should be good to go.
