strange or not?

hey all, i just got some 6x9 alpine speakers. set em up, and i got a lot of vibration mainly in the back from it, so i stuffed stuffed animals back there to stop the vibration a bit :suprise: however, i find that when i set all the sound to one side at a time, the speaker not only sounds much more crisp and sharp, but also there is much less vibration. is this normal? why does it vibrate more if i i have both speakers on opposed to two and why does it sound better with just one? if i could, i would just set it to one side, but it irritates the ear after a while.

thanks, and sorry, i'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to audio.
