strange sounds from hu

So i recently bought a new system: subs, speakers, amp. I hooked it up, and when i turn the volume all the way down it makes a popping noise when you turn it from 1 to 0. Also, there are weird noises coming through the front speakers. They don't change pitch. However, when i run the amp with a mp3 player, the speakers are fine. Also, the RCAs have not been ran with the power cable. So is it just my headunit? Or could something else be wrong?

Thanks

first off, what do you mean by "when I run the amp with an mp3 player"?

Make sure your rcas aren't crimped at all, it tends to happen around the pillar that the seatbelts are on a lot.
Check and make sure your ground cable is not longer than 3 ft, the shorter the better.
Also, is your amp grounded cleanly? IE, completely bare metal?

if the problem still persists, you may want to make a seperate ground for your head unit.

"when I run the amp with an mp3" as in, hooking up and mp3 player to the RCA's and playing music that way. There's no static or popping. The ground is on bare metal and is not longer than 3 feet. And I checked the RCAs. They're in one of those plastic casing things with the remote, so i doubt that is damaged. I will try grounding the hu.
