is the jvc a mono or 2 channel, ive never heard of a sub just cutting out, how do you have it wired? can you post a pic? have you ever been out at night and it done this, cause if it was the battery the lights would have dimmed and your eletrical stuff would have dimmed. does the sub cut out or the amp cut out?

Is it just the subwoofer cutting out? Does the amplifer go into a protect state? It may be a problem with the headunit. Possibly a bad connection on the PCB or a circuit protection.

Does this only happen when the volume is high..?

If it is, its called clipping. all you gotta do is turn down the volume h0mie.

first things first...reground the amp...check the power connections at the battery...check power and ground before you check anything else...

also check to what gauge the wire is,
and the worst thing people can do to there subs is have that little button on the head unit called "loud" on, that crappy button wears on the sub and doesnt really make it sound any better
