sub doesnt constantly hit

I have a 12 in alpine type r sub with an alpine amp and it was working fine until my buddy bought this big painting for his room and put it in my trunk and one of the hangers fell off and was laying on the amp where all the wires connect.. i didnt notice until i went to check out the amp and make sure it was still on and everything was hooked up still.... but now the problem is that the sub still hits but only a few times and then goes off and then comes back on and back off constantly... the amp is always on too.. could the amp have just taken a s**t or the sub???

sounds like either amp or sub got shorted, have you checked all wires going to the sub?

hmmm....sounds like its not getting enough power....like its shutting itself off....my guess if all the wires are in still then maybe get another main fuse for the power wire .....a bigger one to....check the fuses on the amp as well...

my friend had a system with a small power fuse....it would hit....but then shut off ....then about a sec later it would come back on....hit....then shut off again....the amp would still have power...but it would literally kill itself lol.....or maybe check the ground wire....check the ground wire to make sure its still intact....just go over alll the wires and check it out...

sounds good... i didnt even think about checking the main power wire fuse i forgot all about it.. its been so cold and ive been so busy i never have time to toy with it.. good look tho ill give it a shot and let you know how it goes... i know the main fuse is bigger then what it was because it went on me before and i put a bigger one in

well hmmm...what size fuse is it?....and what amp are you running? how many watts?
