exactly how i have my kicker solo baric L5 10inch sub.. sounds awesome in my hatchback!Genuine Rolla said:technically, you want the subs to be facing the rear and as close to the trunk lid as possible.
Actually you want subs to face towards the back of the trunk. Reflecting the bass waves off the rear of the car and giving the wave ample time to produce.senatE said:WOW! no you want them facing towards the back seat. if you face them to the trunk hatch the sound waves bouce off the metal and collide and it makes it sound bad.
ok first of all if it is ported you deff wanted it facing towards the seats. if its not ported you want it facing towards the trunk hatch so when the sound waves will have more time to mature.d16y8vtec said:no you never face the subs toward the back seat.. never no matter if its a hatch coupe or sedan bass waves bounce so when a bass note is signaled through your amp and then pushed out to the sub the sub hits a bass note then then bass note travels and bounces off the first thing it runs into which in turn projects the bass note in the opposite direction is started off.
wrong again when your box is VENTED (ported is like a bandpass box with the port holes) and if u build it right the vent it suppost to move the air.... you never face the subs towards the seats unless you just take out your whole seat and theres no seperation between the trunk and car.senatE said:ok first of all if it is ported you deff wanted it facing towards the seats. if its not ported you want it facing towards the trunk hatch so when the sound waves will have more time to mature.

Picture a bass wave as a watter ripple when you throw a stone in the water, the further away from impact the larger wave. The same holds true with bass.
