HEY!........I'M HAVING ISSUES WITH MY SUBWOOFER BOX BECAUSE ITS WAY TOO BIG AND HEAVY FOR MY TRUNK, PLUS EVERYTIME I TAKE A SHARP CURVE, IT GETS OUT OF PLACE. I'VE SEEN SUBWOOFERS INSTALLED IN THE FLOOR OF THE TRUNK, BUT I'M GUESSING ITS NOT THE STOCK FLOOR SINCE ITS TOO THIN SO CAN ANYONE HELP ME FIGURE OUT WHAT IS THAT FLOOR MADE OF OR ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS YOU CAN COME UP WITH :headbang:

THANKS,
MAUROEX

Man that all caps is annoying, but anyways, you could always use fiberglass and mold something into where the sprae tire fits. It's not cheap work if you don't know how to work with fiberglass

If done right the spare wheel well can be used to hold two 10's ported or two 12's sealed....maybe ported. The guys in the install bay I work in were just discussing this the other night. You will have to make panels to go on either side of the box to finish off the floor so it looks nice. Dynamat the spare wheel area and the entire trunk if you want along with the rear deck. The rear floor is just a thin piece of mdf board. Don't just put a piece of board over it...it won't sound right. You need to build the box to the specifications of the subs. Pluss, you won't have enough room for the subs anyways. We measured the depth to be just under 7" in the spare wheel area.

My subwoofer is 5.6 inches deep. How deep should the box be?

i took this board and put a towel over it and just put it between the box and where the trunk latch is. it worked fine for me.

most hondas can yield up to a 9.5 cubic ft box for 2 fifteens ported using the spare tire well as a fiberglass portion of the airspace. You can fit pretty much anything anywhere. Kinda scary that some installers were discussing this. Most of the should know. On average the spare tire will give up about 2.25 cubic feet.
You dont have to dynamat the trunk under the fiberglass. The fiberglass will act as a sound deadner. The top of the trunk is a must, for the reason you will more that likely have up firing subs. Not the best sound in my opinion, but does offer the clean install.
To pull the mold is a fairly simple task.
remove and clean everything out of the trunk

rub the spare tire well down with turtle wax. Yes the same wax you use on your car. This will act as a releasing agent and help keep the fiberglass fleece stuck to the car.

mix and pour.
Pretty easy.
It just takes a lot of patience, and forsight for not making mistakes when it comes to the woodworking

take measurements and cut some particle board to fit in your trunk then go buy some L brackets then screw your sub box to the mdf, poof sub wont move

I scraped the two differant boxes I made...one 10" and the other one for two 10" type R's. Decided to go with a rearward facing box ported up to the rear deck. What did you end up doing? got pix?
