I have a pioneer Deck, an alpine 500rms amp and a 10 inch jackhammer sub. The sub and amp are newer and I have had them tested separetly, knowing they both work. I can't get the sub to hit hard, it makes noise when the dials are all turned up, but its not right. I have tried switching my ground location, switching wires. I no longer know what to try. It is a cheaper system, but I know its nowhere near potential bass. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

i believe the sub runs 400 w or something, so the amp should b perfect size for one sub. I just don't know what else to try

What Pioneer deck? Most of the good head units have their "bass boost" "amp level" and things of that nature hidden in the menus. At least mine are

I'm not sure about the model of the stereo, i can look that up, but I have played around with the equilizer settings. I will have to check for somthing related to an amp level. I would like to think I know a few things for car audio, but i am confused haha. Ill keep trying, thanks for the suggestions

While the gain would need to be turned up, your frequency settings on the amp might either be too low or high. Look up what range your sub falls into to set accordingly. Also, make sure the sensitivity isn't too high. Too high--not enough comes through. Too low--too much comes through.

Gain-up
Frequency-prolly down
Sensitvity, maybe 1/3

Um, here's something. A buddy of mine told me that his head unit was actually pre-amping his speakers and he had it hooked straight to another amp. The amp would then send the signal to all the speakers and the sound was terrible. Anyways, the problem was the ground wires weren't wired correctly. You may wish to look into this. Your Head unit may be a Pre-Amp.

I switched some settings on the head unit and changed the frequency. It now works right, may take some more fine adjustments. Haha I feel kind of dumb now that its all done. Thanks guys
