So I'm just now kinda recovering. Still in a state of euphoria. So is the city, of course. We've had quite a time these last two weeks. It all started with the NFCCG win over the Vikes. After Screaming and yelling and crying and hugging, we immediately jumped into the car and headed downtown for more screaming and yelling and hugging and crying. Us about 2 hours later on Bourbon when we finally parked and walked into the Quarter:

It was a long drunken night lol.

So during the week, the local radio station decided to second line in honor of Buddy (Buddy D) Diliberto- a loved, long time radio announcer who said that if the Saints ever went to the Super Bowl, he would wear a dress. Well he passed away before that happened. 100K people turned out on the Sunday between games without much hyping at all. We were in it and I'd say about 80-90% of the men were wearing dresses:lol: Here's a vid I found on youtube followed by my vid's.

Then came Super Bowl Sunday. We watched it at my best friends' parents house in Metairie, La which is basically a connected suburb of Orleans Parish. After the win (more screaming, yelling, hugging and crying) we saw how it was already on bourbon and decided it would probably take like 3 hours at least just to get down there. So we went to a small bar in Metairie and partied till early in the morning. Here's a good video that captures the atmosphere in the Quarter that night--

The Saints parade or, Lombardi Gras, as it's been dubbed was last night. Royalty floats from this years carnival were donated by a lot of the major krewes. Couldn't get out of work since I basically refused to show up for Super Bowl and didn't want to test my luck twice. Conservative estimate is 800K turnout. Here's a video WWL put together showing a little of the parade route. Around 3:50-3:360 there is a shot in front of the convention center-- the same convention center that I'm sure you all remember images like this from http://www.amren.com/mtnews/archives/2005/09/2.JPG.

As you can see, what our Saints have done for us is indescribable. Team slogans like "Bless you boys" and "Believe" have such a deeper meaning here. I have no words to express the feeling this city has at this moment and will have for long time- maybe pure joy? perfect happiness? 800,000 people came out on a cold Tuesday night to support there boys in Black and Gold. According to Police officials, "There were no major incidents." No cars were burned, no store fronts smashed in, no one rioted. Just pure unbridled celebration.

So this feeling has not let up in the city yet (and I don't expect it to for a long time), and seeing as it is the middle of Mardi Gras, I think we are all in for a fantastic time this week. Like I said I can't fully describe what we are going through at this moment, but I do know that that lots of alcohol shall be consumed this week ;)
