supercharger load

Supercharger load refers to adding another pulley to the engine...the engine works a little harder to turn the belt and pulley under normal driving conditions. the only time there is no load is when you are at full throttle and the supercharger is helpin make extra power (well...still load, but its minimal compared to the extra hp you gain)

so is this a big problem to where it will be very noticeable or will the added horsepower make it to where it is not that big of a deal

a supercharger wont add ANY HP unless you are pushing your car to the max....like wide open on the highway, streetracing, drags at the strip..etc...it will make your engine work a lil harder to turn it, but im not real sure how much you will notice it on a small engine...last car I was in with a supercharger was a buick grand national with a 502...a 5hp loss to turn a supercharger under normal load was totally unnoticeable ...

one of my friend's friend put a vortech on a 00 si. I will ask him tomorrow becuase i think he ran it at the track. It was a lot quicker than the stock si, i know that for sure

I'm sure it would be, but his question was about installing one and how much extra load the extra belt and pulley will put on the motor under normal driving conditions.

thats what you said, and i was going off of that. It sounded like you said you won't notice the gains much on a small engine. Correct me if i am wrong

ahhh...no, im sure there are great gains from a supercharger...I ment I'm not sure if you would or wouldnt notice the increased load..a 5 or so hp loss on an engine that puts out less than 150 is probably more noticeable than my friends car with 600+hp

supercharging is for carbeurated (spelling wee) motors.

turboing is for fuel injected.

turboing makes power up-high (racing)

supercharging makes power down low (pulling s**t)
